Pathway: Innovative Planning Β· L5 Lessons Learned
Story: Led a Toastmasters New President Training Camp project. Before start, the co-project manager suddenly quit. As club president for only 8 months, facing a group of senior new presidents, she doubted her ability.
With mentor advice, she dropped the "expert teaching everyone" mindset and designed a
safe discussion environment. Using a
problem diagnostic board and
World Cafe method, she guided participants to share problems and advise each other. The event received unanimous praise.
Three Leadership Lessons:
- Don't pretend authority. You don't need to be stronger than everyone; just design the environment.
- Don't need to solve all problems. Core is getting the right questions asked.
- Core Insight: Leadership is not digging pits for others, but finding answers together.
"You are always more ready than you think. Be brave enough to try tasks beyond your comfort zone."
